Is the Bambu A1 Mini Really the Best — or Just Overhyped

Introduction Welcome to Part 1 of my new weekly series where I dive into the cheapest 3D printer from every major brand . Quick Disclaimer Whether you’re loyal to a specific company or just looking for a reliable, budget-friendly printer , this series will help you find the right one without wasting hours digging through specs and reviews. Each week, I’ll cover a different brand, break down what makes their cheapest printer worth it (or not), and give you the real scoop — no fluff. So stay tuned, and let’s kick things off with one of the most talked-about names in 3D printing: Bambu Lab. Why I’m Making This Series Why I’m Making This Series When I first got into 3D printing, finding a clear starting point was surprisingly hard . Every brand claimed to be “the best,” and the market? Honestly, it was just confusing and kind of annoying . I didn’t want to tinker endlessly — I just wanted the best 3D printer for my needs. Simple as that. So I did what I always do: I went all-in. I sp...

The real cost of FDM 3d printing

The Real Cost of FDM 3D Printing FDM 3D printing also known as Fused Deposition Modeling might seem like a cheap way to make stuff at home, but there’s more to the cost than just buying a printer and hitting print . While it’s definitely more affordable (and less hazardous) than resin printing, it still comes with a handful of hidden expenses. In this post, I’ll break down the real cost of owning and using an FDM printer — from filaments and maintenance to energy and time. So let’s pass that build plate and dive in! Speaking from Experience I speak from experience and a lot of research. What I’m sharing here isn’t just guesses pulled off the internet. I’ve went though it. That said, if you’re using something like an Ender 3, this post might not fully apply to you, especially if you’ve done a bunch of upgrades. I won’t be including the cost of mods or tinkering. Instead, I’m using the Bambu Lab A1 Mini as my reference point, because that’s the printer I personally use. It’s a great ou...

The real cost of resin 3d printing

The True Cost of Resin 3D Printing I don’t currently own a resin 3D printer—and there are a few reasons for that: The cost adds up quickly Resin is toxic, and I value my health(say the guy who loves candy) It’s messy, and cleanup isn’t fun This isn’t a rant or a review. It’s simply a breakdown of the real cost of getting started with resin 3D printing, especially if you're a beginner. I’ll do a similar post for FDM printers later. I don’t speak from experience—I speak from hours of research, forums, and Reddit deep-dives. Links to sources are listed at the end. so lets past the build plate and get into it Printer A popular beginner printer is the Elegoo Saturn 3 Ultra . It’s recommended because: It has a decent build volume It’s reliable and well-reviewed It’s widely used, so help is easy to find Prices: $284.99 (sale) $375.00 (regular) Wash and Cure Station You’ll need a wash and cure station to clean and harden your prints. I’d stick with the same ...

My great experience with filament

My Elegoo Filament Experience – Still My Go-To When I first got into 3D printing, I tested filament from three different companies—some were good, some not so much. But the one I started with, and still use to this day, is Elegoo PLA . And honestly, I’m glad I began with it. Elegoo’s filament was truly plug and play . It worked right out of the box with no complicated tuning , and the quality was impressive from the start. My prints came out clean, consistent, and solid . At around $27 for two rolls , it’s a great deal. I’ve used their white, red, and black , and each color performed just as well as the last. This filament made me want to print more —it’s strong, has good impact resistance , and allowed me to create more functional prints without worrying too much about failure. Of course, no filament is perfect. Elegoo can clog your nozzle or create the dreaded blob of doom if your printer isn’t well-maintained. Also, if you’re not using the right settings, some prints might we...

You Get What You Pay For: My Filament Fail with SOLEYIN

Real Talk: Why Cheap Filament Isn’t Always a Win I made a big mistake with a filament I bought — and it’s the exact definition of “you get what you pay for.” The brand was SOLEYIN , and I’ll be honest, I only chose it because the price was super cheap. I saw the reviews — people said it caused clogs, print issues, and wasn’t worth the headache. But I wanted to save money, so I ignored the warnings . Big mistake. My nozzle clogged three times . I nearly ended up with a full-on filament blob disaster, and even after I caught it in time, I spent ages tinkering and the prints still came out sub-par. It just wasn’t worth the time or effort. What I Learned Don’t buy filament just because it’s the cheapest option. Reviews matter — especially the bad ones. A little extra money upfront can save hours of frustration later. If I had just spent 3 extra bucks, I wouldn’t have had this headache. Sometimes, the cheapest option ends up costing you more in wasted time and failed print...

What is This About

Roblox builder, 3D printing enthusiast, and a huge fan of Supercell games. I develop Roblox games, mostly focusing on low-poly maps. I’ve released one game so far — it’s not the best, but I’m actively learning and improving. I’m really into 3D printing. I use a Bambu Lab A1 Mini with multi-color support, and I’m currently learning Fusion 360 so I can start creating my own 3D models from scratch. As for gaming, I’ve played every Supercell game that’s currently available — even the beta ones. My main game is Brawl Stars, but I keep up with all the others too.
