You Get What You Pay For: My Filament Fail with SOLEYIN
Real Talk: Why Cheap Filament Isn’t Always a Win
I made a big mistake with a filament I bought — and it’s the exact definition of “you get what you pay for.”
The brand was SOLEYIN, and I’ll be honest, I only chose it because the price was super cheap. I saw the reviews — people said it caused clogs, print issues, and wasn’t worth the headache. But I wanted to save money, so I ignored the warnings.
Big mistake.
My nozzle clogged three times. I nearly ended up with a full-on filament blob disaster, and even after I caught it in time, I spent ages tinkering and the prints still came out sub-par. It just wasn’t worth the time or effort.
What I Learned
-
Don’t buy filament just because it’s the cheapest option.
-
Reviews matter — especially the bad ones.
-
A little extra money upfront can save hours of frustration later. If I had just spent 3 extra bucks, I wouldn’t have had this headache.

Sometimes, the cheapest option ends up costing you more in wasted time and failed prints. Lesson learned.
Stick with reliable filament brands even if it a tad bit more expensive — your printer (and your sanity) will thank you.
Thankfully, I was able to return it.
2/10 — would not recommend, unless you’re a tinkerer who loves troubleshooting.
What filaments do you recommend
ReplyDeleteI recommend elegoo and sunlu filament they worked with no problem for me and A little more expensive it the giant arm filament there are only gold and silver and shiny filaments but they work just as well
DeleteGreat write-up! Totally agree — saving a few bucks isn’t worth the stress of failed prints and clogs. Reliable filament makes all the difference.
